Skincare Routine For Dry Skin

Whether it’s during the winter months or the scorching sun of the summer heat, we’ve all struggled with dry flaky skin at some point. Many people are familiar with the issue of dry skin, but aren’t quite sure what to do to take care of it. Derm to Door has the answer to all of your skincare problems and questions. We have the perfect dermatologist approved products to target those dry patches.

We are here to lead you through a step by step skincare routine to shed those dead skin cells and enhance your glow. It is important to differentiate your morning routine from your night routine to optimize skin hydration.

For your morning routine, the first step is to cleanse your skin to start off with a fresh face. For dry skin, you should be using a hydrating and gentle cleanser that won’t irritate your skin and strip it of natural oils. We recommend the SkinKure micronized BPO gel cleanser 10%

The second step to prepping your dry skin for the day is using a serum to hydrate. Serum will protect your skin from harmful free radicals in your daily environment that ultimately break down your skin's collagen. Serums are filled with antioxidants to nourish your skin, leaving your skin looking brighter. The iS Clinical Active Serum is great for hydration.

After applying your serum, the most important step - and probably the most obvious for dry skin - is moisturizing. This is crucial to people with dry skin. This step hydrates the skin and prevents premature aging. To really hydrate your skin, pick a moisturizer with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin. Some moisturizers that we recommend to hydrate your skin are the Comfort Zone Hydramemory Cream Gel and the Bioderma Sensibio Rich Cream

The last step of any good morning routine is applying SPF. Sunscreen is crucial in protecting your skin from sun damage and aging. When you have dry skin, you are more susceptible to premature aging, so it is always a good idea to use at least SPF 30. Make sure to reapply SPF throughout the day, especially when exposed to direct sun.

Doing this in the morning will properly prepare your skin for the day and protect against any damage that could occur during the day.

The night time routine is slightly different from the morning routine. The evening routine preps your face for optimal hydration while you rest. The following steps are everything you need to care for your skin after a long day.

The first step, similar to that of the morning routine, is cleansing your skin. This is important to get off all the dirt and makeup that has eroded your skin throughout the day. At night, we suggest you opt for an oil based cleanser like Frances Prescott Tri-Balm to replenish your skin and keep it hydrated.

After cleansing your skin, you should exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. You shouldn't exfoliate every day, because if overdone it can be damaging to the skin. Opt for exfoliating 1-2 times a week for optimal results. You can use a chemical or physical exfoliant. We recommend these SkinKure Micro-Peel Pads which contain glycolic acid and salicylic acid to remove dirt and clogged pores. For a physical scrub, try our SkinKure Microdermabrasion Scrub.

The third step in your nightly routine should be to hydrate. This can take form in a few different ways. It could be a moisturizer or serum. Whatever you choose, make sure that you don’t skip this step. Hydrating at night is just as important as hydrating in the morning.

The final step of our night time routine is applying a night cream or a sleep mask. This will provide ample moisture overnight. Creams can differ based on your needs, whether that is anti aging or simply just hydration, Derm to Door can help find the right product for you.

Pro tips

A few other tips to help fight against dry skin are common lifestyle practices you can change. Don’t cleanse your face too often, it can dry it out and irritate the skin. When cleansing your face, use a gentle cleanser, harsh cleansers will irritate dry skin. Don’t wear matte makeup, this can further dry out your skin. Lastly, don’t spend an extended amount of time in a dry environment.

If you follow all these tips, your skin should be feeling moisturized and flawless in no time! You can find all the products listed at dermtodoor.com.
