Retinol 101

40 is the new 20, and everyone's looking for a way to reverse the clock without botox or a face lift. Our simple fix is retinol. While you've probably heard of retinol, you may not know the ins and outs. We're here to educate you on everything retinol and get you looking 10 years younger in no time.

So what is retinol? Retinol is a Vitamin A retinoid. It helps reduce discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, and acne. But how? Retinol is an exfoliant, sloughing away dry skin to make way for new cells. Retinol sparks collagen synthesis, a natural protein found in your body that reduces the appearance of aging. Bottom line, retinol is a must if you want that 20 something glow. This being said, retinol is not safe to be used during pregnancy and can result in birth defects or miscarriage.

So you get it, you need to use retinol, but how and when and which?

Retinol is an intense product and needs to be slowly incorporated into your night time routine. First, start with twice a week in the evenings and build up tolerance to each evening. Retinol should only be used at night, incorporated into your routine after you cleanse your face. Apply 3 drops to your face and massage it into your clean skin. You MUST use sunscreen when using retinol. Retinol makes your skin incredibly sensitive to the sun and you will get harsh burns if you are not careful.

If you have dry skin, you may have more of a sensitivity to retinol. So for dry skin we recommend the SkinKure Wrinkle Reducing Retinol 2.5X. This is a lower dosage and won't dry out and irritate yoiur skin when paired with your nightly moisturizer.

If you have oily skin, you can go ahead with the SkinKure Wrinkle Reducing Retinol 5X. This is the same thing as the 2.5X, but a bit stronger.

We hope our retinol crash course helped you in your journey to find the fountain of youth. Find our favorite retinol products on Dermtodoor.com!
