Acne Treatment

Your prescription includes a morning treatment that helps decrease the oil and bacterial content of the skin and a night treatment that helps clear inflammation, scarring, bacteria and yeast build up. In the morning gently cleanse the skin and pat dry. Apply your AM medication. In the evening use a gentle cleanser, pat dry and apply the PM medication. Don't forget to apply moisturizer on top both AM and PM as acne medications can cause dryness of the skin. Do not mix these medications with any additional toners, acids, exfoliants or retinols. If redness, dryness or irritation appears, drop down to using every other day. A daily SPF of 50+ or more, is recommended 365 days a year.

Acne is a condition that can occur in all ages and can develop in many different forms. Acne can develop as underground small bumps, pustules, or cysts. Triggers include hormones, sweat, skin care, makeup and diet. Avoid dairy, whey protein and sugars in the diet. Makeup should be light, avoid primers, BB/CC creams and makeup setting sprays. Leave-in hair care can also trigger acne flares. If painful cysts develop a oral medication may be necessary. Please inform your physician of this. Over drying the skin can often cause acne breakouts. Keep the skin hydrated with moisturizers and try not to overwash the skin which makes it sensitive to breaking out.
