Itchy/ Flaky scalp Treatment

Your prescription includes an anti-inflammatory scalp solution custom developed to decrease scalp redness, flaking, and itching. The solution can be applied after washing the scalp and once again at bedtime. If you have a dandruff shampoo at home, it can be used once to two times a week as well. It is crucial that the hair is kept dry. Blow dry the hair after every washing and do not leave the hair damp or wet. Moist environments are breeding grounds for yeast so keeping the scalp clean and dry are key.

Flaky scalp may not be completely cured, but can be controlled with medications. Often times the course waxes and wanes depending on time of year, climate, hormonal changes, stress and diet. Scalp care and keeping the scalp as clean and dry as possible are very important. Avoid using heavy sprays, gels, mousse or waxes on the hair. Do not sleep with wet hair, and do not keep the hair wet in a ponytail or bun overnight. Shower immediately after sweating and dry the hair well after washing. A diet high in sugar and alcohol can make the symptoms of scalp itch or flakiness worse.
