Rosacea Treatment

Each regimen includes 60-days of treatment.

Rosacea is a skin condition that begins in your 20's and 30's and starts with sensitive skin. It can progress to persistent redness, flushing, bumps and acne-like lesions and skin inflammation. Prevention is key and using products developed for sensitive skin products is necessary. Doctors recommendations are to cleanse no more than once a day with a gentle, non-lathering cleanser. In the morning rinse skin with water only. Apply the AM medication followed by a thick moisturizer with anti-redness and anti-inflammatory agents and a broad spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen. In the evening, cleanse with a non-lathering cream or oil based cleanser then apply PM medication all over the face and then apply a deeply hydrating moisturizer on top. Pair all skin care with weekly hydrating masks and soothing serums or oils to hold moisture in the skin. Always use SPF as the last step in your regimen.

Product Details

Your prescription includes a morning and night treatment with antioxidants and skin lightening agents to decrease the appearance to brown marks, or hyperpigmentation in the skin. Often this takes 3-6 months to see results. In the morning gently cleanse the skin and pat dry. Apply your AM medication in the area with the brown spots. In the evening use a gentle cleanser, pat dry and apply the PM medication in the area of the brown spots. Don't forget to apply moisturizer on top both AM and PM as these medications can cause dryness of the skin. Do not mix these medications with any additional toners, acids, exfoliants or retinols. If redness, dryness or irritation appears, drop down to using every other day.

Doctor's Tip

Rosacea can occur in any skin type but often starts as sensitive skin which evolves to become red, inflamed and flushes easily. Often it is genetic however triggers that make it worse include sun exposure, hormones, wine or spicy foods, a diet high in inflammatory foods such as dairy or sugar. Medications that decrease inflammation and bumps often take 2-3 weeks to take effect and dietary modifications are an essential part of prevention. . Sun avoidance and sun protection are essential. If a sunscreen is not used with broad spectrum SPF 50+, the skin redness and flushing may not improve. Apply sunscreen every two hours and wear a hat if you are in the sun. Recommended skin care includes a gentle oil or cream based cleanser and a hydrating moisturizer on top of your medications.
