We've curated a set of winter skin tips from a dermatologist to help you combat the harsh effects of the season and achieve a radiant complexion.
Signs of Winter Skin Woes:
Skin Tightness after Cleansing: Winter air can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it feeling tight and uncomfortable after cleansing. If you're experiencing this, it's a clear sign that your skin needs extra care and moisture.
Skin Feels and Looks Rough: The cold weather can make your skin texture rough and uneven. If your once-smooth complexion is now rough to the touch, it's time to incorporate products that focus on restoring the skin's barrier.
Flaking, Scaling, or Peeling: Dry, dehydrated skin often leads to flaking, scaling, or peeling. If you notice these signs, it's an indication that your skin is craving nourishment and needs targeted products to address the issue.
Itching and Redness: Winter skin can also manifest as itching and redness. These symptoms may be exacerbated by central heating systems and constant temperature fluctuations. To soothe irritated skin, a specialized skincare routine is crucial.
Recommended Skincare Routine:
To combat the winter skin blues, consider incorporating the following dermatologist-recommended products into your skincare routine:
Alastin Ultra Calm Cleansing Cream: Gently cleanse your skin with this calming cream that not only removes impurities but also replenishes moisture, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and revitalized.
SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore: This medical-grade skincare product is formulated to restore the skin's lipid barrier, providing essential nutrients and hydration. It's a powerhouse for combating rough skin texture and promoting a smoother complexion.
Phyto-C O-live Gel: Infused with olive leaf extract, this gel is designed to soothe and hydrate the skin. It's an excellent choice for addressing flaking, scaling, and peeling, leaving your skin with a healthy glow.
Alastin HydraTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 36: Don't forget the importance of sun protection, even in the winter. This tinted sunscreen not only shields your skin from harmful UV rays but also provides a hint of color for a radiant finish.
By incorporating these products into your winter skincare routine, you can effectively address the signs of winter skin distress and achieve a hydrated, luminous complexion. Online dermatology consultations can further personalize your regimen, ensuring that your skin receives the care it deserves throughout the colder months. Embrace the winter season with confidence, knowing that your skin is equipped to withstand the elements.

Combat scalp dryness with clinically proven products that bring the expertise of dermatologists to your doorstep. Call them whatever you'd like, but they're all caused by one thing: the sun.* These dark spots on the skin are a form of hyperpigmentation, and can darken over time, as your lifelong cumulative sun exposure increases (in other words, the older you get, the more sun your skin has been exposed to over your lifetime, which is why these brown spots often appear darker and more prominent with age, hence the name age spots).
Keep reading for Dr. Lily's tips on how to prevent dark spots from ever forming in the first place, and if you already have dark spots, don't panic! Check out our article on how to get rid of hyperpigmentation.
Use the highest SPF you can (at least 30 SPF, but 50 SPF is always better).
Dr. Lily's Tip: Apply a full 1/2 tsp of sunscreen to face and neck daily in order to achieve the advertised SPF rating.
Re-applying your SPF is essential, as sun damage will start to occur at the two hour mark!
Dr. Lily's Tip: Use a powder sunscreen like Colorescience Brush On SPF over makeup
Tinted sunscreens provide the best protection, as iron oxides (the tint) are the only way to prevent sun spots and melasma caused by blue light.

It's best to stay out of the sun during peak hours (10am-4pm), but if you do go outside, make sure to cover up with a hat, visor, beach umbrella, etc.
If you're going to be in the sun a lot (like a day at the beach, a tropical vacation, or even a camping trip, fair, or festival), remove Retinols and exfoliants from your routine, as these can increase your sensitivity to the sun.
* Many people also refer to dark spots on the skin as liver spots, but those are actually different. Stay tuned for an upcoming skin health article on that topic!

Double-cleansing is washing your face with an oil-based cleanser, then washing with a water-based cleanser.
If you wear a lot of makeup, mineral sunscreen, or have oily skin, double cleansing is for you! If you have sensitive skin or rosacea, double cleansing may not work for you.
Because regular cleansers alone don't remove all the dirt, grime, and makeup of your daily life.
The first step of double cleansing involves using a cleansing oil or balm. This step removes any makeup, mineral sunscreen, dirt, and grime from your daily life.

Brown spots, Melasma, and any type of hyperpigmentation can occur in any skin type. Often, they are the result of age, sun exposure, or hormones, but can occur after acne or redness of the skin. Medications that lighten brown spots can cause redness, dryness or irritation if used in large amounts or used too much. Start by using these medications every other night. If irritation doesn't appear after 1-2 weeks of use, then use every night. Sun avoidance and sun protection are essential. If a sunscreen is not used with broad spectrum SPF 50+, the brown spots may not improve. Apply sunscreen every two hours and wear a hat if you are in the sun.

Acne can develop as small bumps, pustules, or cysts under the skin. Environmental triggers include hormones, sweat, skincare, makeup, and diet. Avoid dairy, whey protein and sugars in the diet. Makeup should be light, while avoiding primers, BB/CC creams, and makeup setting sprays. Leave-in hair care can also trigger acne flares. If painful cysts develop, an oral medication may be necessary; Please inform your physician if painful cysts develop. Over-drying the skin can often cause acne breakouts. Keep the skin hydrated with moisturizers and try not to over-wash the skin, which makes it sensitive to breaking out.

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition characterized by flushing or blushing in the face. The 5 symptoms of rosacea include:
Though each rosacea patient is unique and sufferers experience symptoms differently, all rosacea cases progress similarly over the course of a patient’s life and first appear with an onset of skin sensitivity. Rosacea usually starts around age 25-30 and can occur in any skin type.
Sensitive skin is that which reacts with redness, stinging, burning, itching, or dryness to irritants in the environment. Common irritants include harsh cleansers, fragrance of any kind (in skincare and laundry detergents!), skincare products with “active ingredients” (like retinol, vitamin C, exfoliating acids or beads), and even harsh weather conditions like cold wind or a hot climate. Your rosacea skin may even be so overwhelmingly sensitive that you have trouble finding products to use, leaving your skin unprotected and more susceptible to irritation. A dermatologist can diagnose the early signs of rosacea and intervene before symptoms worsen.
About one quarter of rosacea cases present with papules and pustules, or what look like little pimples. These small, inflamed blemishes look like acne pimples, have a puss-filled white head, and usually appear around the nose and mouth area.
As rosacea progresses, the frequent and repetitive flushing produces ongoing visible redness and dilates surface capillaries as they fill with blood. Untreated, these capillaries, sometimes referred to as “broken blood vessels,” remain dilated and appear on the skin permanently. Some people with rosacea may notice the redness in their face come and go, while others, usually those with more advanced rosacea, will experience redness all the time. Rosacea worsens with age and so does redness; so, if your skin is constantly red and hot, it’s time to seek treatment from a dermatologist.
Often, patients with Papulopustular Rosacea mistake their rosacea flare-ups for acne, making their rosacea far worse with irritating or drying acne treatments. Left untreated, the inflammatory rosacea cycle can lead to skin-thickening in some (about 10% of cases; mostly men), leading to the appearance of a swollen, enlarged nose. It is absolutely key to see a dermatologist for treatment in the form of medication, a rosacea-centered skincare routine, and guidance on daily habits to improve rosacea.
Common rosacea concerns include redness, acne-like breakouts, and visible blood vessels. If your skin looks like any of the pictures below, you likely have rosacea.
While there is not a known root cause of rosacea, rosacea is genetic and impacted by the environment. Rosacea is ever-present, and though manageable, can “flare up” when aggravated by irritating or inflammatory products or conditions, or rosacea triggers.

Hyperpigmentation is when you have excess pigment which causes spots or patches on the skin to appear darker than the surrounding natural skin tone. A variety of medical conditions, skin issues, environmental factors, and even hormone imbalances can lead to hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Understanding what kind of hyperpigmentation you have and what’s causing it will help you determine the right treatment method to correct and maintain an even skin tone safely and effectively.

Hyperpigmentation is one of the most complicated skin concerns to treat, but with an intentional skincare routine dedicated to correcting and preventing dark spots, transformational results are on the way!

The most important aspect of a hyperpigmentation skincare routine is stopping the production of excess melanin at its source. Melanocytes, the cells that make skin pigment, produce melanin via the tyrosinase enzyme. To prevent too much melanin production in response to inflammation, damage, or hormones, ingredients that stop tyrosinase from becoming melanin should be applied twice daily to the skin.
Tyrosinase inhibitors include:
With the exception of some vitamin C formulas, tyrosinase inhibitors can be combined with any other skincare ingredients to support healthy melanin production, even the skin tone, and prevent hyperpigmentation.
Not only can you soften the appearance of dark spots and prevent new ones with tyrosinase inhibitors, by speeding up the skin’s natural process of turning over new cells, pigment is lifted and brightening ingredients work even quicker!
Vitamin A and its derivatives, also known as “retinoids,” Retinol, Retinaldehyde, and prescription Tretinoin (Retin-A) all stimulate the fibroblast cell to produce more collagen and push new skin cells up to the surface.
Learn More: What is Retinol & What Does It Do?
Adding an additional exfoliation step to your weekly routine un-glues dead skin cells as they collect on the surface of the skin, lifting old pigmented cells. Alpha hydroxy acids are Dr. Lily’s go-to exfoliants, but she especially loves Mandelic Acid, which is known for its more gentle profile and larger molecule size, allowing it to work on the surface where unwanted pigmentation is visible.
When it comes to truly removing dark spots and unveiling clear, uniform skin, a short course of topical prescription medication is a game changer. Under the guidance of a dermatologist, you can be prescribed a safe, effective, Hydroquinone formula proven to lighten stubborn hyperpigmentation, including patches of melasma.
Hydroquinone is a medication that’s only accessible through your derm, meaning most Americans might not have the opportunity to get an appointment and leave with a hydroquinone prescription, leaving them exposed to the misleading, and even dangerous, unregulated skin-lighteners. Derm to Door provides access to a dermatologist and Dr. Lily’s custom-formulated prescription Hydroquinone hyperpigmentation treatments with additional high-tech tyrosinase-inhibiting and brightening ingredients. Just head to the Derm to Door Rx page, scan your skin, and a dermatologist will approve your 2-month prescription supply and ship it out in just two days!
After learning about your skin, dedicating your skincare routine to hyperpigmentation, and committing to a course of prescription treatment, it's time to make sure you’re protecting all your hard work. Yes, that means SUNSCREEN.
Wearing sunscreen every day with broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB and a sun protection factor (SPF) of 50 is not negotiable if you want dark spots to fade (and don’t want new ones!). The iron oxides in tinted sunscreen shield the skin from visible, or “blue”, light which has been shown to darken hyperpigmentation. The color in make-up works the exact same way, but a make-up product with included SPF on its own is not even remotely enough sunscreen, nor is just applying it in the morning or when outside.
For true sun protection, Dr. Lily instructs patients to apply ½ teaspoon of SPF to their face and neck first-thing EVERY morning as the last step of the morning skincare routine. Then, reapply your SPF liberally with more sunscreen, a sunscreen mist, or sunscreen powder every 2 hours, as sunscreen is quantity and time-dependent.

You are not alone! Hyperpigmentation and various types of dark spots that appear on the skin are one of the most common skin concerns worldwide. The global market of hyperpigmentation treatments was calculated in 2019 to be over 4.4 billion US dollars, meaning you and millions of other consumers are making decisions between even more millions of products, spending exponentially more millions of your own dollars with little to no guidance or education from medical or cosmetic professionals.

If you have hyperpigmentation that you want to treat and manage safely and correctly, a board certified dermatologist with medical and cosmetic expertise can provide you the expert instruction, prescription medication, effective skincare, and cosmetic procedures you may need to unveil the skin of your dreams. Seeing a dermatologist, however, is not always an easy task; the average waiting time to see a dermatologist is 35 days or more… a long time to wait if you’re struggling with the emotional toll skin issues can carry! Board certified dermatologist Dr. Lily Talakoub created Derm to Door to revolutionize the skincare experience, bringing expert guidance to customers’ fingertips and your perfect routine of medical-grade skincare and prescription medication from computer screen to your doorstep in days.

Hyperpigmentation refers to excess pigment causing spots or patches on the skin to appear darker than the surrounding natural skin tone. Various medical conditions, skin issues, environmental factors, and even hormone imbalances can lead to hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Understanding what kind of hyperpigmentation you have and its root cause by learning from medical professionals is key to finding the right treatment and maintaining an even skin tone effectively and safely over time.
Most people struggling with dark spots are experiencing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) which appears after the skin is injured. Any trauma to the skin from acne or a full blown rash or burn causes inflammation as the body heals itself. Part of the skin’s natural healing process involves the production of melanin, the pigment that gives our skin and hair their color. After inflamed skin heals, excess melanin is left behind for weeks, months, or even many years depending on the severity.
There are three types of hyperpigmentation that could be causing the brown spots on your skin: post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (also known as PIH), age spots (also commonly referred to as sun spots or liver spots), and Melasma (which is also known as pregnancy mask, but is not always caused by pregnancy). We will break down each specific type of hyperpigmentation below.
Most people with hyperpigmentation have PIH left over from acne (also commonly known as acne scars). In darker skin tones, post-acne marks will appear dark brown or purple-ish in tone, while lighter skin tones may have brown, purple, and red marks, also called post-inflammatory erythema (or simply skin redness).
Acne, inflammation, and excess melanin production are all biologically linked, meaning breaking the acne cycle quickly while simultaneously treating PIH and preventing further inflammation must be your strategy.
The sun is also a major factor that contributes to hyperpigmentation. Ongoing exposure to sunlight, especially UVB radiation (the kind that causes a sunburn), damages skin cells, causing them to produce excess melanin.
Similar to the process that occurs when you freckle or get a tan, dark spots get even darker in the sun and new ones form as a result of sun damage. As natural aging progresses, hyperpigmentation may rapidly appear that can be traced back to sun damage in years past; most refer to this type of hyperpigmentation as “age spots”.
Shop: Best Sunscreens to Prevent Age Spots
The final and most complicated type of hyperpigmentation is a skin condition called Melasma, which appears as brown or gray-ish blotchy patches of discoloration concentrated on the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip.
Connected to hormone fluctuation in the body, Melasma affects primarily women and and can occur in relation to pregnancy, hormonal medications like birth control or hormone replacement therapies, and certain medications with phototoxic or pigment-producing side effects.
Research into Melasma is ongoing, and there is a lot we are still learning, like how eating blueberries daily actually helps reduce Melasma! About half of American women experience melasma while pregnant or on birth control; it’s so common that melasma is often referred to as the “pregnancy mask.” On top of the physical and emotional ordeal of pregnancy, postpartum depression, and a baby to take care of, accepting and addressing melasma can place an emotional strain that is real and impactful, but medical grade skincare for hyperpigmentation and prescription treatments combined with guidance from a dermatologist can make a profound difference in your mental health and your journey to clear skin; plus, blueberries are delicious!
Now that you know the different types of hyperpigmentation, what they look like, and what causes them, you’re one step closer to clear, even-toned skin! If your face is always red or feels like it's on fire, you're probably one of the 16 million Americans living with rosacea. Rosacea can be uncomfortable, painful, embarrassing, and just plain confusing; and the longer you leave it untreated, the worse it gets. But it's never too late to get to know your skin or create a personalized treatment plan with a Dermatologist!

While there is no absolute cure for rosacea, creating a lifestyle and habits centered around addressing rosacea symptoms can provide immense relief to rosacea sufferers. By monitoring and minimizing triggers, developing a twice-daily skincare practice with products dedicated to relieving and preventing rosacea symptoms, and working with a dermatologist to find the best treatment for you, rosacea patients can find relief and uncover clear skin!
To help you navigate your way through the symptoms and flare-ups of rosacea, here's a breakdown of a dermatologist-recommended AM and PM skincare regimen:
For a morning skincare regimen, board certified dermatologist, Dr. Lily Talakoub, recommends skipping the possible dryness a cleanser can cause and, instead, rinsing with room-temperature water before patting your face dry. Next, apply a moisturizer to maintain the natural moisture barrier, your first line of defense against rosacea triggers. A fragrance-free moisturizer with antioxidants, skin-soothers, and barrier support goes one step further to prevent and relieve flare-ups. SkinKure Rosacea Cream Light does it all, plus the high concentration of green tea-derived caffeine aids circulation and targets dilated capillaries to soothe redness at its source. Sunscreen is absolutely the most important step in the daily routine of anyone with rosacea (and without!). Protecting already sensitive skin from additional heat and radiation is key to prevent worsening rosacea symptoms and permanent redness Dr. Lily recommends a broad-spectrum mineral-based sunscreen with at least SPF 30, but preferably SPF 50 with a tint for maximum protection from UVA, UVB, and visible light (“blue light”).
Before bed, Dr. Lily Talakoub recommends washing with a gentle cleanser. SkinKure Calming Cleanser doesn’t foam like other, harsher washes and delivers essential nutrients and antioxidants to soothe as it cleanses. SkinKure Rosacea Cream Heavy locks in hydration and treats redness as you sleep with its richer, silky texture. Sometimes, localized areas are so sensitized, they need some additional healing care that only Avéne Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream can deliver.

New year, new you. Give your health the attention it deserves this year.
An FSA is a benefit typically offered by most employers and allows you to set aside money directly from your paycheck, tax-free, and put it into an account to be used to pay for eligible health-related, or out-of-pocket expenses for you, your partner and dependents.
Most FSA plans operate under a “use it, or lose it” structure, which means that you have until the end of the year, Dec. 31st, to spend all of your pretax dollars before they’re forfeited. If you’re one of the lucky ones, your employer will provide a grace period of up to two and a half months into the new year for you to use your FSA dollars. This essentially gives you until March 15th to spend it all, but you’ll want to confirm this with your employer because some grace periods can be shorter or even non-existent.
Now, the question is: what can I buy with my FSA dollars? Honestly, a lot of vanity essentials like bandages, sunscreen (never a bad idea to stock up on that), face wash, prenatal vitamins, and acne treatments. Yes, you heard us — acne treatments.
So, before you unconsciously sweep those pretax dollars to the side, we’ve rounded up a few of our very own skincare essentials that just so happen to be FSA eligible.

]]>We don’t know about you but as soon as the heaters are turned on and the temperature drops below 70 our skin starts to see and feel the repercussions of low humidity levels and dry air. The moisture in our skin immediately feels like it's physically being sucked out, and soon enough our skin develops flaky, cracked and irritated patches. What’s worse is that chronic irritation from the changes in temperature irritate our skin more causing the formation of acne and clogged pores.
One common way to combat dull and flaky skin during the winter is regular exfoliation but the problem is that there are tons of ways to exfoliate and most of the time it’s hard to figure out just where to begin. Luckily, you aren’t the only ones asking the right questions about exfoliating.
We’ve gathered the most frequently asked questions about exfoliating so you don’t have to worry about dull and dry skin during the winter.
Why exfoliate in the winter?
Colder weather brings in lower humidity levels and dry air that may result in a compromised skin barrier, with tight and cracked areas of the skin along with irritated and inflamed patches of breakouts. These dry patches still need to be sloughed off to reveal smoother and clearer skin underneath as long as you remember not to overdo it. This brings us to our next questions: How often should you exfoliate?
How often should you exfoliate?
Exfoliation should be done at least once a week and not more than three times a week, but if you have dry or sensitive skin, once a week with a gentle exfoliator will do. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, exfoliating 3 times a week using a gentle chemical exfoliator should suffice.
What happens if you exfoliate too much?
If you exfoliate too much you will put your skin at risk for a damaged skin barrier, which may lead to more breakouts, irritation, inflammation, and dryness. To repair this we recommend stripping down your routine back to the basics. This means that in the morning all you need is a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen and at night all you need is a cleanser and a moisturizer.
To calm down sensitized and inflamed skin, we recommend using a lightweight but reparative moisturizer like the Avene Xera Calm Cream or the Sente Dermal Repair Cream.
When should I exfoliate?
In general, Dermatologists recommend exfoliating in the morning because our skin repairs itself at night leaving a layer of dead skin cells in the morning ready to be removed.
Should I use a chemical or physical exfoliant?
Generally, chemical exfoliants are safer and gentler than physical exfoliators because they do not involve rubbing the face with a brush or sugar particles, but both methods of exfoliation are still efficient and effective. It all just really depends on how you use each product.
When choosing a chemical exfoliant, look for products with salicylic acid, lactic acid, or glycolic acid. We always recommend the SkinKure Micro Peel Pads for anyone with oily, acne-prone or combination skin. Otherwise, a gentler option would be to use an exfoliating treatment like the iS Clinical Active Peel System once a week or every other day.
If you’re looking for a weekly treatment, we recommend using the Joanna Vargas Exfoliating Mask for a revitalizing peel to clear pores and remove impurities for a healthier glow. Another Derm-favorite option is the SkinKure Vitamin C Peel Kit which is a two-step system that provides instantly smooth and bright skin.

]]>Here are 7 of our top tips on how to combat your dry winter skin.
Nothing seems better than a hot shower or bath on a cold winter day, but hot water is the enemy of dry winter skin. To make your shower moisturizing, swap soaps for body cleansing oils. Our favorite is the Bioderma Shower Oil which invigorates dry skin to reveal a luxurious silky-smooth feel.
Apply your body moisturizer on damp skin, we recommend leaving it in the shower so you can apply it before you step out.
One of the most overlooked steps in the winter is switching to a thicker hydrating moisturizer. Look for moisturizers with ingredients such as skin-smoothing ceramides and hyaluronic acid. For very dry skin, apply your moisturizer morning and night.
Drunk Elephants Lala Whipped Retro cream is a great option, it rescues dry dull skin while slowly delivering moisture throughout the day and night. The Hungarian Thermal moisturizer by Peter Thomas Roth harnesses moisture along with a triple lipid complex to nourish and restore the appearance of your skin. The name makes you want to drink it, so does your skin!
Avoid facial cleansers with drying ingredients such as additives and fragrances which can strip your skin of its natural oils. Choose a mild and soothing face wash like the Bioderma Sensibio cleansing foaming gel. Formulated with nourishing vitamin E, this foamy face wash is the perfect cleanser for the winter.
Drinking water (and a lot of it) is important year-round, treating your skin during drier winter months means paying attention to hydration, inside and out. Stick to 8-10 glasses of water per day and avoid excessive caffeine or alco
Serums are one of the products you should use year-round. Serums with Vitamin C are effective in brightening dull skin and preventing damage from environmental stressors and free radical damage. The Skinceuticals C E Ferulic is a great day time serum that delivers advanced environmental protection and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, and brightens skin complexion. The hyaluronic acid-based Phyto-C O-live Gel immediately reinforces natural skin hydration, hydrates, and moisturizers, and soothes dry, irritated skin.

Colder temperatures don’t mean you should throw your sunscreen away. Choose an ultra-moisturizing sunscreen like the SkinKure moisturizing mineral SPF 50. This sunscreen provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection from harmful UV rays while locking in moisture and caffeine to soothe and calm the skin.
Feeling parched? During the dead of winter, the elements don’t always play well with our skin. Use a hydrating sheet mask once a week at bedtime. Avoid masks with ingredients such as charcoal and clay while opting for masks with hyaluronic acid. We love the Patchology 5 Minute Sheet Mask, which is ideal for fatigued and dehydrated skin.
End your evening by coating your hands with a thick moisturizer. Crafted with ultra-moisturizing agents, the Bioderma Atoderm Hand and Nail cream leave you with noticeably soft and supple skin.

]]>Colder weather not only calls for sweaters, boots and pumpkin spice lattes but also an entirely new skincare routine fit to protect your skin from the harsh fall and winter weather.
]]>Here are 5 skin care tips you need to save your skin from tight, cracked and rough skin.
During the colder months it’s good to switch to a gentle cleanser that cleanses and hydrates at the same time. Also avoid overusing a cleanser with harsh active ingredients like AHAs and BHAs especially if you already have dry and sensitive skin.
If you have oily or acne-prone skin, try the iS Clinical Cleansing Complex made with white willow bark to exfoliate and break up pore-clogging oil to boost cell turnover and tighten the appearance of your pores. If you have dry or sensitive skin you need to use a potent cream cleanser like the Alastin Ultra Calm Cleansing Cream that removes dirt, oil and makeup without disrupting the skin’s moisture barrier.

You may think that exfoliating during the winter months could mean a disaster for your skin, but it can actually do the opposite — as long as you don’t overdo it. When the skin gets overly dry, cleansing and moisturizing just isn't enough to give you a smooth and clean canvas of skin to work with. That’s why regular exfoliation is encouraged even during the colder months to help remove dead skin cells and grime built up.
If you’re looking for a chemical exfoliant, try the Augustinus Bader Essence which is essentially a toner that gently dissolves and removes impurities while enhancing the skin's ability to attract and retain moisture. It also reduces the appearance of pores and regulates sebum secretion making it suitable for oily and acne-prone skin types as well.
When it’s a physical exfoliator you’re looking for, try the Joanna Vargas Exfoliating Mask that uses fruit derived enzymes and a fusion of volcanic ash and mineral-rich clay to gently draw out impurities. The end result is clear pores and a brightened, smooth, glowing complexion.
One of the most important yet easily neglected steps of a skincare routine is the moisturizer and this is especially important during the colder months. When our skin gets exposed to more harsh conditions and our moisture barrier is not properly protected by an emollient rich moisturizer, the skin’s integrity depletes leading to cracked, rough and tight skin, and in some cases even acne or redness.
To prevent this, switch your lightweight moisturizer for one with a thicker formula containing ceramides or hyaluronic acid to aid in water retention and skin barrier protection and function. Our dermatologists recommend using the PCA Skin Collagen Hydrator infused with fruit extracts, including olive and almond for extra nourishment, as well as antioxidants for firmer and plumper skin.
If we have not emphasized it enough — don’t forget to moisturize! Not just your face but also your body especially the areas that are most commonly exposed to harsh climate like your hands, ankles, and neck. In the shower, we recommend using a nourishing and hydrating shower oil like this one from Bioderma. Its non-greasy formula provides 24-hour hydration, diminishing signs of dryness and dehydration. Post-shower, immediately slather on this rich body cream by Augustinus Bader. Made with shea butter, this cream leaves skin feeling soft and looking smooth while bisabolol calms and hydrates stressed skin while promoting healthy barrier function.
Even when there’s no harsh sun in sight and snow is piling up on the side of the road, you’re still at risk for sun damage, no matter your age or location. Unfortunately, ultraviolet rays are still present even when the sun doesn’t seem to be shining. Hence, all that you can really do is apply sunscreen regularly. For a moisturizing formula, our dermatologists recommend using the Skinkure Moisturizing Mineral with broad spectrum SPF 50. Made with hyaluronic acid, it aids to lock in moisture while caffeine soothes and calms the skin.
If you’re looking for a tinted sunscreen, our dermatologists highly recommend using the Elta MD Tinted UV Glow. Rich in powerhouse antioxidants like high-purity niacinamide and ergothioneine, it brightens skin, protects against daily skin-aging aggressors, and promotes the appearance of healthy, glowing skin. It also contains hyaluronic acid and coconut fruit extract to restore moisture, leaving skin feeling supple.
]]>One of the many side-effects of cancer treatments are changes to the skin often causing dryness, itchiness and sun sensitivity. Although much of this is inevitable, you can still proactively minimize the severity of these side-effects by choosing the right products your skin interacts with.
So, whether you’re a patient undergoing cancer treatments, or supporting someone with a breast cancer diagnosis, consider these dermatologist-approved and recommended preventative measures and topical treatments to keep skin healthy through it all.
The products you should use...
After the surgery, your primary concern should be preventing infection and protecting your skin from sun damage, redness, drainage and increasing pain. To help scars heal, keep the area hydrated and moisturized with an ointment formulated to protect and prevent damage and infection. The Avene Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream is formulated with Avène natural spring water that imparts nourishing moisture to fortify the skin barrier and soften its texture to help with wound healing.
Additionally, frequent exposure to harsh sunlight may delay the healing process for scars and pigmented skin. This is why it’s important to always protect your skin with broad-spectrum sunscreen that is SPF 30 or above. Our skin experts recommend using our breast cancer safe sunscreens like: SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50 or the EltaMD UV Restore Clear SPF 40.
2. If you’re going through chemotherapy
Some of the short-term side-effects of chemotherapy include hair loss, nausea and vomiting but dry skin is just as common. As chemotherapy drugs target fast-growing cancer cells, skin cells may not necessarily be excluded from that process. To help calm down dry skin, you should reach for creams, oils or ointments that are free from fragrances and are optimal for sensitive skin. Our skin experts highly recommend the Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil that invigorates dry and sensitive skin to reveal a luxurious, silky-smooth finish.
3. f you’re doing hormone therapy treatment
As your hormone levels shift, so does your skin’s moisture and sensitivity levels which lead to the development of dry and acne-prone skin. To combat this, you need to moisturize and prevent any further skin damage from developing. Look for a hyaluronic acid-rich formula like Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream, olive leaf extract found in Phyto-C O-live Gel and redness-soothing ingredients like niacinamide and green tea found in the SkinKure Sensitive Skin and Rosacea Cream Heavy.

]]>If there’s anyone you should be taking skincare advice from, without a doubt, it’s dermatologists. After all, they are board-certified experts of the skin and they have your skin concerns in their best interest. From dryness, acne, rosacea, melasma down to your nails, scalp and hair – you can trust your dermatologists to give you the preventative care you need.
Ever wonder what skin experts use for their skin and actively recommend to their patients? We did, too. That’s why, at the beginning of every month, we reach out to Board-Certified Dermatologist and Derm to Door CEO Dr. Lily Talakoub to reveal what her monthly skincare picks are — and what you need for the transition to colder weather, combatting dry skin in October.
You know you’ve spent too much fun under the sun when you begin noticing brown spots and areas of light pigmentation start to appear as soon as September rolls in. Alongside the sun damaged build-up of pigment on your skin, you will also notice the build-up of grime or dirt that leaves your skin feeling coarse, clogged and congested.
To combat this, Dr. Lily says that regular exfoliation using chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid or lactic acid to slough off dead skin cells is needed to achieve a smooth layer of skin that is easily penetrable by brightening ingredients like Vitamin C. She recommends the Murad Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum good for normal to oily skin and even acne-prone skin. She says, “the glycolic acid removes all the dead skin layers and grimey complexion of the skin, while the vitamin c will penetrate several layers of skin and lighten up brown spots.”
Fall leaves, dry air, dehydrated skin — name a better trio. Sweater weather is here and you know that means dull and dehydrated skin, chapped lips, & dry and rough knuckles, and calluses. As awful as that sounds, the solution lies in your moisturizer. According to Dr. Lily, the key to battling dry and dehydrated skin in colder weather is switching to a richer and more nourishing moisturizer.
This month, Dr. Lily specifically picked out the Augustinus Bader Face Oil as one of her holy grail products for colder months. She says “this is a great product to use on top of or mixed in any moisturizer especially if you have really dry skin,” adding that “it also works great for sensitive skin and rosacea prone skin.” Formulated with ultra-nourishing ingredients like argan oil and babassu oil, this restorative formula nourishes, hydrates and refines the skin, fitting for winter months.
Contrary to popular belief, men need skincare too. One of the most common skin concerns men with facial hair experience during the colder months is the occurrence of after shave rashes, irritation and redness related to dry skin. This is why Dr. Lily believes that an important part of a man’s routine is to moisturize and moisturize with skin care formulated with their needs and lifestyle in mind.
The Moisturizing Balm by Lumin is a rich but easily applicable moisturizer that goes onto the skin like butter without leaving any grease or stain. Aside from the elegant and simple packaging, it is formulated to be fast absorbing and target dullness and dryness experienced in any season.
If your skin feels chapped and tight every time you wash it, you probably need to change your cleanser. This luxurious and deep-cleaning cleansing oil by One Love Organics is highly recommended by Dr. Lily for all skin types especially for dry, sensitive and rosacea-prone skin.
The clean and nourishing formulation of this cleansing oil is one of the reasons why Dr. Lily personally can’t get her hands off of this product. According to Dr. Lily, “I love this, I don’t double cleanse, but I use this as my primary cleanser.” She adds that it also works great as a nourishing makeup remover, saying that “it is very soothing and you feel like you’re in a spa. It takes off all of your makeup in just a few pumps, leaving your skin clean but not dry.”
If you use a lot of hair products on your hair and scalp, then you should start thinking about detoxifying your scalp from all that grime and build-up that can cause irritation, dryness and eventually dandruff. Dr. Lily recommends using the Jupiter Purifying Mask. She says, “this is the most interesting product I’ve ever used to relieve my scalp in times when it feels extremely dry and sometimes on fire.”
Made with mineral-rich volcanic ash, this once a week mask for your scalp uses high-end ingredients that nourish the scalp, leaving it cool, calm and smelling sublime. When using this product, she adds that, “it comes out like a shaving cream that you can slather onto your scalp in the shower. Leave it on for a couple of minutes and you’ll immediately feel the cooling sensation even after you rinse it off.”
Last but most certainly not the least — sunscreen. We cannot emphasize this enough, but you do need to keep wearing sunscreen even when it gets dark and gloomy outside. UVB rays are still extremely potent during the winter months and can actually damage your skin all year-round.
To protect yourself, Dr. Lily recommends this one of a kind sunscreen by Colorescience called the Face Shield Flex with broad-spectrum SPF 50. She says, “it will protect you against interior light, exterior light and it’s a replacement for your tinted moisturizer or your foundation with SPF.” This formula is made with innovative iron-oxide pigments to adapt to the tone of your skin as you blend it in, eventually leaving you with a demi-matte finish.

The skin barrier is the outermost layer of your epidermis and is mainly in charge of keeping irritants out, while locking-in the skin’s natural oils and moisture. A healthy skin barrier will look and feel smooth, soft, and radiant. Whereas an unhealthy skin barrier will look and feel dry and rough, dehydrated, sensitive and prone to breakouts.
Don't panic! Even though this sounds concerning, the solution is in your routine. There are a couple of things that can harm your skin barrier so we sat down with a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Lily Talakoub, M.D., to get all the details.
Signs of a damaged skin barrier:
Disruption of the core function of your skin barrier will manifest itself in a number ways...
What can damage your skin barrier and how do you treat it?
1. The products you use
If you’re using too many products on your skin, or if you’re using the wrong ones for your skin type, the chances of you irritating your skin is much higher. This is why Dr. Lily recommends going back to the basics — cleanse, exfoliate (lightly), and moisturize.
Featured products: Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water, Cane + Austin 10% Retexture Pads, Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream
2. How you use those products
Over-cleansing and over-exfoliating your skin are two of the primary ways you can severely damage your skin barrier. You don’t want to do either because excessive cleansing and exfoliating will strip your skin of its natural oils, producing dry, irritated and breakout-prone skin.
If you have normal or oily skin, it’s recommended to use a gentle exfoliator 2 to 3 times per week. If you have dry or sensitive skin, gently exfoliating once a week should be enough. You also don’t want to cleanse more than twice a day.
3. Your lifestyle
People don’t talk about this enough, but stress affects your skin’s condition big time. When you’re stressed, your body produces hormones like cortisol that stimulate your oil glands to produce excessive oil. This overproduction of oil then clogs pores which ultimately leads to breakouts.
To manage stress breakouts, Dr. Lily recommends doubling down on your acne treatments by using an exfoliating pad like the SkinKure micro-peel pads made with a mixture of glycolic acid, salicylic acid and lactic acid.
4. Harmful sun exposure
If you don’t regularly apply sunscreen, you should start now. Environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution can also wreak havoc on your skin barrier. By not wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen, you’re essentially allowing these environmental stressors to slowly break down your skin’s collagen, increasing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.

It’s undeniable that the skin benefits of working out are comparable to the effects of a luxurious facial and a consistent skincare routine, but what people tend to forget are the aftereffects of endless sweating in a humid and confined space. Don’t worry, these effects are not permanent! We sat down with Board-Certified Dermatologist and Derm to Door CEO, Dr. Lily Talakoub to get all the details on preventing exercise-related breakouts, redness, and irritation.
Pre-workout
1. Cleanse
Before you start working out, you want to make sure that you’re starting with a clean and fresh slate – regardless of whether you’re wearing makeup or not. One of Dr. Lily’s ultimate favorite ways to cleanse on the go is to use micellar water. Made with micelle technology, micellar water is formulated with highly purified water that deeply but gently cleanses the skin without disrupting the skin’s barrier functions. She specifically uses this micellar water by Bioderma to take off her makeup, even eye makeup.
2. Hydrate
The next step after cleansing is to moisturize and revitalize the skin before going into a sweat-inducing environment. Dr. Lily recommends opting for a lightweight mist like the Avene Thermal Spring Water mist to calm, soothe, soften and comfort skin.
3. Protect
Although optional for some, we believe that sunscreen is necessary wherever you may spend your workout. For maximum protection, Dr. Lily recommends using the Elta MD UV Clear. A cult-favorite among skincare lovers and enthusiasts alike, the UV Clear sunscreen by Elta MD gives you broad-spectrum SPF 46 protection and is lightweight, oil-free, and especially suited for blemish-prone and sensitive skin.
4. Prevent
Although not the sexiest part of your skincare routine, one can’t forget to prevent excessive sweat and especially order during one’s workout. To combat this, we recommend using the highly raved about, Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant. This gentle antiperspirant’s effective formula controls wetness and perspiration while keeping you dry and smelling fresh—without irritation.
Post-workout
1. Cleanse
As soon as you finish your workout, the first thing you should do is wash the sweat off your face. Gently but effectively cleanse your face with the iS Clinical Cleansing Complex loved by the Derm to Door Team and Dr. Lily herself. It deeply cleanses the skin to prevent future breakouts and retextures your skin to give you a smooth, blemish-free complexion.
2. Exfoliate
Once you’ve cleansed your skin, to ensure that there are no signs of any lingering sweat, dirt, or grime, Dr. Lily recommends using one of her holy grail products only available on Derm to Door – the SkinKure Micro-Peel Pads. This gentle yet powerful exfoliating pad is made with glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells to reach an optimum glow.
3. Treat
After exfoliating, treat your skin to an added layer of hydration. Dr. Lily recommends using the SkinKure Hyaluronic Acid serum to lock in hydration for a supple and smooth complexion. Great for all skin types, apply 2 to 3 drops of this serum onto your lightly damp face.
4. Moisturize
Finish off your routine by moisturizing using the Peter Thomas Roth Hungarian Thermal Water Moisturizer. This lightweight but deeply moisturizing formula made with nine botanicals and a triple lipid complex nourishes and restores skin’s appearance for a healthier and younger-looking glow.
]]>The fall season is coming and that means a few things: endless trips to Starbucks, new booties, and a new fall wardrobe. We know you want to get on that shopping spree so we asked Board-Certified Dermatologist and Derm to Door CEO, Dr. Lily Talakoub which skincare alternatives she recommends for budgets under $100 and under $50.
This is your chance to spend a little more on your fall outfits and a little less on your skincare routine!
Treatment for Dull Skin
Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and thought that your skin just looks meh? Like there’s nothing wrong, but at the same time, there is? You’re probably dealing with dull skin. Don’t worry, it’s not just you! One of the main causes of dull skin is the build-up of dead skin cells that haven’t been scraped off the skin. To combat this, Dr. Lily suggests using a gentle exfoliating agent with chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid.
One of Dr. Lily’s all-time favorite and number one recommended products to her patients is the Cane + Austin 20% glycolic acid pads. This one-step pad exfoliates and evens skin tone while visibly reducing age spots and blemishes. For a holy grail product under $50, she recommends using the SkinKure Micro-Peel Pads formulated with all three gentle exfoliating acids that correct and exfoliate the skin to prevent the build-up of acne-causing bacteria.
Treatment for Dark Spots
There are plenty of products on the market that claim to reduce the appearance of dark spots or sometimes even grant you magically clear skin overnight. Well, that’s not the case for dark spots. To clear up those dark spots and acne scars, it takes time, consistency, and the right products. Here are Dr. Lily’s two recommended treatments for dark spots.
Vitamin C, E, and Ferulic Acid are top-tier ingredients when it comes to lightening the skin and fading hyperpigmentation. Coincidentally, the Peter Thomas Roth Potent-C Power Serum is formulated with all three and works together to improve the appearance of not only dark spots but also fine lines and uneven skin tone. For a budget-friendly alternative, Dr. Lily recommends the SkinKure Brightening Cleanser only available on www.DermtoDoor.com. This brightening cleanser is formulated with a combination of AHAs to exfoliate the skin and a rich blend of antioxidants including vitamins A, C, E, Green Tea to gently treat hyperpigmentation.
Treatment for Fine Lines
When it comes to treating fine lines and signs of aging, getting cosmetic procedures is the way to go. Still, if you’re not a fan of needles or don’t have thousands to spend on in-office procedures, there are a number of pain-free, botox-free, and subtle anti-aging treatments fit for your skincare routine.
For an option under $50, Dr. Lily highly recommends these Forehead Patches by Wrinkles Schminkles. Made with 100% medical-grade silicone, these multi-use patches are clinically proven to relieve the appearance of forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and brow wrinkles. On the other end of the budget, Dr. Lily highly recommends the use of retinol, specifically the SkinKure Wrinkle Reducing Retinol 2.5x formulated for sensitive and drier skin types. This anti-aging treatment combined with Bakuchiol makes for a substance that visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, and redness or irritation.
Treatment for Pores
Before we get into these treatments for large pores, let’s get one thing straight – your pores are here to stay. It’s remotely impossible to make your pores disappear for good no matter how many products you use or how hard you try to pick at them. What you can do, however, is to exfoliate, treat and moisturize your skin regularly and consistently to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores and eventually get glowing skin.
The first option for treatment is to reach for a deep exfoliating scrub like the SkinKure Microdermabrasion Scrub that uses grains to remove clogged pores and dead skin cells. It improves skin tone and texture in addition to reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and blemish scars. On the pricier side of the shelf, Dr. Lily suggests using this all-around amazing product for the skin – the iS Clinical Active Serum. It provides anti-aging, anti-acne, and brightening benefits and is clinically proven to provide both instant and long-term results to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles while softening the skin's texture.

]]>1. Hi Therese, you founded Lady Suite after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism- what was it that gave you the “push” to create your own brand?
After being misdiagnosed for two years by prominent physicians in Los Angeles, I inherently knew that my vulva skin problems weren’t going to be easily addressed either. And, I was right. I was given steroid creams for hypersensitivity and hydroquinone for the plethora of dark spots. While those are short term fixes, they compromise the skin and the body’s health over time.
Luckily, more experts like Dr. Talakoub are making a concerted effort to make sure vulva skin isn’t overlooked, and with elevated solutions that don’t work against our holistic health.
2. Hypothyroidism can often lead to dryness, what were your treatment options before Lady Suite?I didn’t really link dryness to the issues I was having - above (on my face) or below (vulva area.) I co-founded the first postbiotic skin care line in the medical channel prior and was lucky to work with a biochemist (still do) who taught me the importance of protecting the skin barrier. This was at a time when probiotics in skin care wasn’t “a thing”, and when peels and over-exfoliation seemed to be the go-to for faces. In essence, the goal was to stimulate the dermis by wounding the epidermis to increase protein production like collagen. We were using DNA microarray assays to see what our formulas were doing to the skin - if they were in fact doing their job without increasing inflammation.
I learned epidermal cells - keratinocytes - are so important to skin health and protection (not to mention hyperpigmentation prevention.) So it’s best not to over-exfoliate and to mitigate inflammation.
I choose to groom and have no pubic hair. After years of shaving (then waxing, then laser hair removal) coupled with hypothyroid, dryness is a real thing for me. It’s also a sign of pH skin imbalance and increases inflammation. This worsened ingrown hairs, dark spots, and general itching and discomfort. My doctor at the time prescribed a steroid cream. Steroid creams can work but they can also thin the skin over time and I would argue they don't provide a healthy long term fix for dryness. Being a product developer in the skin care space and an advocate for “clean ingredients” I wanted to create plant-based solutions that are effective and don’t compromise long-term health.
3. What is something people don’t know about you?
I should have been an immunologist because I geek out on that stuff, but I secretly wish I were a lounge singer. LOL
4. What is your favorite product in the line? It’s cliche to say I love them all for different reasons but the Rejuvenating Botanical Oil is my must-have. It took almost 3 years to get it right and I use it everywhere. It’s my desert island product.
5. Tell us about your morning and evening skin routine!I try to make this routine easier these days because I’m a beauty junkie and have worked on so many brands outside of my own, it’s been hard to consolidate. I do much less in my 40s.
6. What does your Vulva skin routine look like?AM: I’ll use the Probiotic Refreshing Cleanser most mornings, especially after sex or a workout. (I’m a morning sex person because I have no energy at night these days!) I’ll also use it in armpits because it mitigates unwanted bacteria that can lead to body odor. I also use this as a mask on my face when I’m breaking out. Its pH is 4 so it’s vulva pH friendly but a pH of 4 is more acidic than the face. So it works as an exfoliating cleanser or mask on the face.
PM: I’ll use the Glow Refiner Exfoliating Spray a few times a week. I don’t recommend this on the days you shave or wax - you don’t need to double exfoliate down there. I also love this as a facial toner for me because I have an oily t-zone and my skin loves lactic acid and niacinamide.
I use the Rejuvenating Botanical Oil every night without fail. I use a dropperful on my entire vulva area, and I use this as my go-to face oil. It has minimal essential oils for specific reasons and is loaded with essential fatty acids in the way of linoleic acid that rejuvenates and protects the skin barrier without weighing it down. I don’t have any more ingrowns or dark spots down there. My intimate skin feels healthy, smooth and the oil makes foreplay more fun ;)
But keep in mind, I use this every night. You can’t expect these results if you use it once a week or just when you shave or wax. Also, if you have hair down there, this is still a great oil. It has meadowfoam seed oil which is so conditioning for hair and hair follicles.
7. For readers who want to start their own business, what are your top tips?I found solace in good friends and found health experts that understood me and were willing to listen. Talk to us at Lady Suite. We’re not doctors but we’ll connect you to a solid person or resource whenever possible. Talk to Dr. Lily!
9. What mantra would you want to share with every woman?
Be here now is the one I take with me. Be present even though it’s so hard not to live in the past or in the future. You’re exactly where you need to be right now.
10. What’s next for Lady Suite?
We’re in the process of finding the right investors to be able to launch our vision for better lady parts education, content, and of course, more essential product solutions that better serve our needs as women.

]]>The two categories we break sunscreen into are mineral sunscreen (AKA physical sunscreen) and chemical sunscreen. But what does this mean? Physical sunscreen contains zinc oxide or titanium oxide and reflects UV rays in order to protect your skin. Chemical sunscreen absorbs UV rays and converts them into heat. Both sunscreens protect you from the sun, but which should you use in different scenarios, and how do you know which is right for you? We're going to dissect what physical and chemical SPF mean.
So what's the difference between chemical and mineral sunscreen? Here's a quick breakdown between the two.
Chemical SunscreensWhat is Chemical Sunscreen Good for?Chemical SPF is best for daily use, because it is lightweight and thin, making it ideal for oily skin. Chemical Sunscreen Ingredients:Oxybenzone, Homosalate, or Oxtinoxate How Chemical Sunscreen Works:Chemical sunscreen works like a sponge, by partially absorbing the sun's rays to prevent UV damage. |
Mineral SunscreenWhat is Mineral Sunscreen Good for?Physical sunscreens are best for sensitive or reactive skin types. They are also safer for children and pregnant women. Mineral Sunscreen Ingredients:Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Dioxide How Mineral Sunscreen Works:Mineral sunscreen/physical SPF acts like a shield, deflecting the sun's rays to prevent UV damage. |
Mineral sunscreen is best to use if you have acne prone skin, because it is less likely to clog pores. It is often heavier and can feel cakey. Physical sunscreen can also rub off very easily and often needs reapplication.
A great physical sunscreen is the Skinceuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50. With a mineral SPF, you also see powdered sunscreen options, like the Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50, which are great for reapplying sunscreen over makeup.
Shop Our SkinCeuticals Products
Chemical Sunscreen is more often your typical day-to-day SPF. It is thinner and less likely to rub off when sweating. A chemical sunscreen is much easier to mix in with other skin care products and should be the type of sunscreen that you incorporate in your daily skin care routine.
Some great chemical sunscreens include the EltaMD UV Clear sunscreen and the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen. These chemical SPF formulas are great whether you are headed to the beach or just for everyday wear. Both sunscreens go on clear and don't leave a white cast. No one will even notice you are wearing SPF!
Conclusively, no sunscreen type is better than the other, they are just alternative ways to protect your skin from the sun. We hope you enjoyed our brief explanation of your favorite SPF! Shop all the products mentioned here at Dermtodoor.com.
]]>Our first tip is to wash your feet. You should do this every day to wash away built up dirt and give your feet a break from the friction from walking around all day.
Secondly, wear shoes that fit. Wearing high heels or ill fitting shoes can cause more friction and lead to rapid callus formation.
Lastly, using gel inserts to make your feet more comfortable and avoid friction is a great way to prevent calluses.
So what happens if you already have calluses? We have great remedies and products to help get rid of them. A great starting point is exfoliating. Exfoliation can help break down the build up of skin cells, softening your skin and reducing the appearance of calluses. Obagi-C Exfoliating Day Lotion With Vitamin C is a great remedy to slough off dead skin cells and make for softer, smoother looking skin.
Another crucial step in reducing the appearance of calluses is moisturizing. Keeping your skin soft is a huge part in not only minimizing calluses but preventing them as well. We recommend using the Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Balm to soothe your problem areas.
Last but certainly not least, Derm to door carries the SkinKure Callus Buster. This is the perfect product to get rid of your calluses ASAP. This formula is a multi purpose blend to remove thick hard to treat callused skin.
We hope this will help you blast your calluses in no time! Shop all the products mentioned at Dermtodoor.com.
